On Sunday, April 3, 2011, Jake and I declared in front of our church, Sandals Church, that we would raise Olivia in the light of the LORD. For those of you who grew up Catholic like me, this is our church’s version of a “baby baptism.” We believe that the decision to be baptized should be Olivia’s choice, but in the meantime, this is an official declaration and commitment from us as a family as well as from our church family.
It doesn’t stop there. We are to be teaching her God’s word and being in constant conversation with her about what it means to be a follower of Jesus. We pray that she believes that and applies these teachings to every aspect of her life. It was a very momentous occasion for our little one whether she knows it yet or not.
We asked our family and dear friends to join us in this commitment and then for a little dinner afterward. We are so thankful for those who surround us with love and support! Below are a few photos that we managed to catch of this day.
